ALS-advocate Derek Walton received the Sunnybrook Foundation’s Rose Award for his volunteer work, which includes raising awareness and raising funds for research.
The Barrie man has been a spokesperson for ALS Ontario and ALS Canada, and is best known for his Jumping for Pals, a skydiving event which raised more than $260,000 for research at Sunnybrook.
Supporting him through his work has been his wife Diane Rowat-Walton. The couple received the award Oct. 15.
